Diving Sipadan

Access to Sipadan is tightly controlled. Every diver has to have a permit to dive and they give out (I think) only 120 permits per day to limit the impact that divers have on the reef. Because of the distance to Sipadan, most divers dive three times during the day before returning home.

Before diving, every diver has to check in.

Surface Intervals

Surface intervals, the time spent between dives, are spent on the island. They have provided very nice facilities so that divers can relax, eat, and enjoy the island while having minimal impact.

During surface intervals you can rest or eat lunch in the Rest Area,...

use the "facilities",

or take a quiet stroll down the beach.

Eventually, it is time to get back on the boat for another dive!
