The flight from Sandakan to Tawau took less than 40 minutes.

Looks like most of the forest has been replaced by oil palm plantations.
We also passed through oil palm plantations during most of the hour-long van ride between Tawau and Semporna.
In Semporna we boarded a boat to take us out to Mabul Island. Here is a view of houses built on stilts along the shore in Semporna.
