When I got back to KL I noticed that most of my photos were taken during the free time or fun time that we had during the conference. I assure you that we also put in our work time as well.
We had a "Welcome Reception" on the first evening. We were welcomed to Thailand by a number of VIPs including the U.S. Ambassador to Thailand Kristie Kenny (in the green dress).
The first session on Thursday morning focused on "developing stronger US-Southeast Asia ties". The morning's speakers included Portnip Kanananiypt, the Executive Director of Fulbright Thailand and hostess extrordinaire (far left), as well as people from the U.S. Embassy, Thai Universities, and the Thai Govvernment. Note that the seat on the far right is still empty. This speaker was late in arriving because he was caught in Bangkok traffic- a common occurance.
Jaki Bradley, one of the student Fulbrighters in KL giving her presentation.
My talk entitled "Formal and Informal Environmental Education in Malaysia" was scheduled in a session called "Environment and Education" (aren't you sorry you missed that ?!?). Also speaking in my section was Samir, from Singapore, who talked about electic cars, and Elena, from Malaysia, who talked about pitcher plants in Sabah.
The formal part of the conference ended with a lunch. The main speaker for the lunch was a Thai professor who studied in U.S. who shared some of her (mostly hilarious) experiences living in the U.S to try to illustrate the differences between the way that Thais and Americans view the world.
